As of 2024, using SPF, DKIM, and DMARC is a must for sending emails. Major email providers, like Google, completely block emails that don't follow these protocols properly.

Here's how our tool at Pipl.ai makes a difference and what the various statuses mean for you.

How Our Tool Is Different

While most tools or other platforms only perform a basic check on the syntax and presence of SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records, they are not always accurate. At Pipl.ai, we go a step further by checking the headers of actual sent emails. This is the only way to make sure they are configured properly. Once you connect your email account to Pipl.ai, we thoroughly check your authentication headers to ensure you're fully prepared for your email campaigns.

What the Statuses Mean for You

  • 3 Greens: Your setup is perfect! You're ready to send out emails.

  • Any Red or Gray: These indicate issues that need to be resolved before proceeding with email campaigns or warmup emails. Ignoring these warnings almost guarantees that your emails will be marked as spam.

  • SPF/DKIM/DMARC Pending: It should not take more than 2 minutes for verification. If this status doesn't change, it means our server didn't receive your test email. In this case, reaching out to our support team can help troubleshoot the issue.

  • SPF/DKIM/DMARC Error: This indicates a problem with sending emails through your SMTP server. It's likely due to an error on your server's end.

Detailed Breakdown of Each Status

SPF

  • Green: Your message passed DMARC authentication successfully.

  • Red: Your message failed DMARC authentication.

  • Gray: The SPF result is none, softfail, or neutral, or there is an issue that prevents us from checking the SPF record.

DKIM

  • Green: Your message passed DKIM authentication.

  • FAIL: Your message failed DKIM authentication.

  • Gray: The message isn't DKIM-signed, the "From" domain and DKIM signature don't match, or an issue prevents DKIM verification.

DMARC

  • Green: Your message passed DMARC authentication.

  • Red: Your message failed DMARC authentication.

  • Gray: Either SPF or DKIM passed, but there's no DMARC policy or it's set to p=none, or an issue prevents a DMARC verdict.

Ensuring your SPF, DKIM, and DMARC settings are correct is crucial for your email's deliverability. If you encounter any issues or uncertainties, our team at Pipl.ai is here to assist you every step of the way.
